I like to tell visual stories: Creating A graphic novel is something I've always dreamed of. Now my dream becomes reality with 'raaf'!

Hi! My name is Lisa Baijs. I live in a small town with my Rat Perry, my cat Pickles, and my boyfriend Thiery.

I Graduated Illustration in July 2017 and got my bachelor's degree at the Willem de Kooning Academy. I'd like to call my work illustrative design because there isn't just one thing I make when it comes to illustration.

Check out my portfolio site, and see what I create!

RAAF all started in late 2015 as a simple concept, but grew out to be so much more than just that, early in 2016... It became a very personal project, connected to me and my point of view of things, but also about memories and true stories.

The book is really coming to an end and will be available in December/ January.

I wrote the story & created all art myself , but couldn't have done it without the support of people around me.

Lots of aspects of the book are actually also based on my fascination and personal experience with birds like Jackdaws, Crows, and Ravens: these birds are the companions of the Main character Raaf.

When I was young I had a jackdaw called Gerrit. A few years later I raised a crow and a jackdaw together. Their names were Pinky and Dolf, they made a nest on a bookshelf in my bedroom. When they were old enough, able to fly and take care of themselves a childhood friend and I took them outside and set them free. they immediately found a group of jackdaws and spend their lives happily with each other, sometimes still paying us a short visit to show us how they were doing.
